The name Kaul Associates is dedicated to the memory of Professor Sajid Usman Kaul, the founder of this organization and one of the pioneers of Anaesthesia in Pakistan. He worked as Professor of Anaesthesia in Allama Iqbal Medical College and Nishtar Medical College Multan. He eventually resigned from his government job to work in the private sector. His dedication to teaching and training never faded, and his credentials were recognised by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan and in 1994 he was asked to supervise the training of anaesthesiology residents in Lahore in view of the shortage of qualified trainers in the speciality. He along with Prof. Shahida Khawaja and Prof. Khalid Bashir formed Anaesthesia Associates. He utilized this platform to train residents in anaesthesia. Hameed Latif hospital was formally recognised as training center in anaesthesiology in 2001. This started an era during which Kaul Associates has produced 66 Anaesthesia and 4 Critical Care fellows to date. Though he is no longer with us but his legacy continues; the organisation he formed continues to serve patients and to foster the cause of education in Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine.
